Pitt Meadows Airport Now Designated AOE/15

Important Instructions for Pilots!

Greetings to all our airport users. Over the past few years, Pitt Meadows Regional Airport has been engaged with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to upgrade its core service at the airport.  This has been a comprehensive and elongated process. It is a core service upgrade that is essential to the economic well being and long-term sustainability of the airport.

I am very pleased to announce that the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport Core Service Request (CSR) for an increase in AOE (Airport of Entry) designation to that of an AOE/15 has been approved by the CBSA.  This new status allows for enhanced customs and immigration services through the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), making Pitt Meadows a convenient point of entry for international flights. The CBSA will enhance service at the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport to include AOE/15, 24/7, year-round provision effective immediately.

An AOE/15 is an airport used solely for clearing persons arriving by general aviation aircraft (private or company) where the flights are unscheduled and the number of non-paying travellers on each flight does not exceed 15 (including the crew). In straightforward terms, unscheduled general aviation / corporate / executive aircraft flights abiding by the conditions and requirements set forth by the CBSA can now fly directly into the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport from an approved international destination. Of primary importance to Pitt Meadows Regional Airport are those flights arriving directly from the USA. Please note, with this service upgrade, CANPASS is still available but not required for direct entry. We are extremely pleased with this new designation. It is a coveted and well-deserved enhancement.  It safeguards the airports prominence in a competitive regional aviation market. We can take pride in this important regional asset of ours. We are indeed moving the needle forward. This core service upgrade is a fabulous, good news story for our airport community and the Cities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. Enjoy this new privilege. It is a wonderful service upgrade. All the best and safe flying. - Guy Miller, General Manager YPK
